ELECTION IS THIS TUESDAY, JUNE 6TH. PLEASE VOTE
BARBERIO FOR MAYOR
VALORI AND FERRARA FOR COUNCIL
Dear Parsippany Residents.
I appreciate all of you who follow my blog. It is a way that I can speak directly to you without the filter of the media. I’m asking that you vote for Barberio for Mayor, and Valori and Ferrara for Council this Tuesday. Polls are open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This is shaping up to be a close election. EVERY VOTE MATTERS AND EVERY VOTE COUNTS!! Parsippany has a long tradition of close elections. Frankly, who turns out to vote will decide Tuesday’s election. If our supporters don’t vote, things may not go well. However, if our supporters show up to vote we cannot lose. I know that because we have a lot more support than our opponents. That is why it is critically important that ALL of our supporters get out to vote – and vote the entire ticket of Barberio for Mayor, and Valori and Ferrara for Council!!
We have run a positive campaign based on our record of accomplishment for the residents of Parsippany and our vision for Parsippany’s future.
TAXES. We have the third lowest tax rate in Morris County! There will be NO tax increase this year! We have a strong AA bond rating which reflects our strong financial management practices and sound financial policy decisions. But, my opponent Rob Peluso, VOTED NO on my 0% tax increase budget. That’s because Peluso wants to raise your taxes!
SERVICES. We have outstanding services in Parsippany and we have maintained and enhanced many services during my tenure as Mayor. We have increased funding for public safety like adding more police officers to patrol our neighborhoods, expanding Smith field to support our recreation programs and cricket play, adding an additional public nurse, providing cancer screening for our seniors and so much more. But my opponent, Rob Peluso, has voted against all of that!
NEW RATEBLES. The reason we have been able to increase services and keep taxes low is because we have attracted new businesses to Parsippany. My administration has facilitated the occupancy of 5 million square feet of commercial space in Parsippany since I became your Mayor. This has generated $1.7Mill in new revenues to Parsippany which Council President Valori, Vincent Ferrara and I believe can and should be used to offset increasing costs. That is our formula to keep taxes low and the quality and scope of services high. But my opponent, Rob Peluso, believes that we should be reducing water and sewer fees for corporations off the backs of our residents. Under Peluso’s plan, corporations would pay less in water and sewer fees and our residents would pay higher property taxes.
SCHOOL SAFETY. The Township and the School Board entered into a historic shared services agreement that puts police officers in our schools. The Board of Education unanimously supported the proposal. Every member of the Township Council supported that agreement, including Paul Carifi – except my opponent Rob Peluso. The fact is that Rob Peluso was the only elected representative in all of Parsippany to vote NO on putting police officers in our schools!
I am committed to continuing the progress we have made these past seven and a half years to make Parsippany even better by:
1. Continuing to attract high quality ratables to appropriate areas
2. Cutting costs where we can
3. Enhancing the quality and quantity of services for Parsippany residents.
4. Capitalizing on our size to negotiate good shared services agreements with other towns.
This is why Money Magazine rates Parsippany the 5th best place to live in the United States of America!!
My opponent, on the other hand, has run a negative, nasty and slanderous campaign, riddled with lies. He’s long on name calling but short on ideas. That is because my opponent thinks this campaign is about him. He’s wrong. This campaign is about you! It’s about our community and how to make it even better tomorrow than it is today!! That is why I’m running for reelection – to build on our successes and make Parsippany even better! On Tuesday, let’s vote for the team that that is fighting for you. Let’s vote for the team who has a proven track record of serving Parsippany and getting great results. Let’s vote for the team that has already proven they can get the job done! Let’s vote for Barberio for Mayor, and Valori and Ferrara for Council. Thank you.
