Mayor Barberio Shows Support for Parsippany Police Department’s Explorer Program

Parsippany-Troy Hills Mayor James Barberio showed his support for the Parsippany Police Department’s Explorer Troop 131 with his recent visit to the Troop’s recent breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, March 11 at Applebee’s restaurant on Route 46 East.

The Mayor was joined by more than 160 supporters who attended the pancake breakfast served by the 26 Explorer cadets who are currently enrolled in this year’s Troop 131 Police Explorer program.  Troop 131 raised $2100.00 to help support the program. The breakfast was held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Mayor James Barberio re-established Explorer program back in 2016. Mayor Barberio said; “I made a decision to invest in our youth in the community, but also it’s an investment in the Police Department.

Council members who supported the Explorers program are Council President Lou Valori, Councilman Michael dePierro and Councilwoman Loretta Gragnani.

Law Enforcement Exploring is a hands-on program available to youth between the ages 14 to 20 years of age who are interested in the field of criminal justice or a related field.

The program also offers young men and women a personal awareness and lessons of responsibility and accountability through training, practical experiences and other activities.  The program also promotes personal growth through good character development, respect for the rule of law, good citizenship, patriotism and physical fitness.
