On Monday, February 20, 2017, Mayor James Barberio revealed his intentions to seek a third term as Mayor of the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills Monday night.
Speaking to a standing room-only crowd of supporters at Houlihan’s Restaurant, Mayor Barberio also disclosed his primary running mates, Council President Louis Valori and former Councilman Vincent Ferrara who will be vying for the two available seats on the township’s Council.
The Mayor spoke of his vision to further embark on the successes and accomplishments achieved in the last four years of his administration, working cohesively with Council President Valori, Councilman Michael dePierro and Councilwoman Loretta Gragnani. Mayor Barberio also added the continued importance of working with individuals who share a common, sound vision that benefits Parsippany and its residents.
“I love Parsippany and the people who live here. I love serving as your mayor, and I will continue to work every day, as hard as I can, to make Parsippany an even better place tomorrow than it is today,” said Mayor Barberio.
Some of the recent accomplishments spotlighted by Mayor Barberio included his blog to increase transparency and enhance communications with residents and taxpayers by logging onto plugintoparsippany , adding services; attracting businesses to relocate in the township; entering in a historic shared services contract with the township’s School District; and keeping taxes low.
Council President Valori echoed the collaborative relationship with the Mayor and his administration in bringing about many township improvements and earning the township the fifth top spot on Money Magazine’s ranking of 2016’s ”The Best Places to Live in the United States of America”.
Valori also outlined details mentioned in the Mayor’s recent blog posts.( Plugintoparsippany )regarding the township’s active investigation into and lawsuits surrounding former police captain James Carifi and Carifi’s recent financial settlement demand of a $4.3 million lump sum payout. Please click here for actual Carifi payout Demand Letter.
Valori contended newly-announced mayoral Republican primary candidate Robert Peluso serves only as a shell candidate, sponsored and controlled by Paul and James Carifi, to achieve a James Carifi-favorable outcome in his taxpayer-funded settlement pursuit.
“He (Robert Peluso) is running for the wrong reasons. He is running because he promises (former) Captain Carifi $4.3 million if, in fact, he supports him to get elected,” declared Council President Valori. Valori added this primary race from the start has been all about former Captain James Carifi manipulative quest to hoard $4.3 million from a baseless, frivolous lawsuit.
Former Councilman Vincent Ferrara highlighted his past, successful advocacy of township residents while serving on council and his continued commitment to improve upon township accomplishments through a collaborative relationship among residents, Councilmembers, the Mayor and administration staff.
