Continuing on my unwavering commitment to safety and security, I have secured a police substation location in the Powder Mill region of our township. This location will enhance safety and security and increase police coverage for many outlying areas of our townships including Puddingstone, Glenmont Commons, Powder Mill, Sedgefield, Glacier Hills and other western locations in our township.
With the assistance of Council President Louis Valori, a lease agreement was successfully negotiated, and the police substation will be located in the Powder Mill Shopping Center at 46 Gibraltar Drive.
We could not have asked for a better site as this is a centrally-located spot, allowing for a more nimble and efficient police operation when handling various matters, deployments and emergencies in this region. This substation will also vastly improve upon response times, community service outreach initiatives and department operational efforts.
At the very beginning of my term in 2010, I made a solid commitment to strengthen safety and security for the entire township and safeguard the western, more distant regions of our township — which is exactly what this security facility will do.
I know I can speak on behalf of Council President Valori and Police Chief Paul Philipps in expressing how thrilled we all are to see this initiative come to fruition.
