Congratulations to Parsippany Citizens Police Academy Graduates

On May 25, 2017, Mayor Barberio handed out certificates to the 2017 Citizens Police Academy Spring Session participants. The 10 week long course was attended by 18 township residents who completed the Township of Parsippany’s Citizen’s Police Academy which is meant to strengthen the relationship and communication between the Police Department and our residents.

The course was organized by Patrol Officer Remo D’Alessandro with the assistance of Chief of Police Paul Philipps, Captain John Wieners III, Sergeant Allan Griffin, and Patrol Officer Brian Conover.

Some of the numerous topics covered were our command structure, field training programs, motor vehicle stops, crime scene investigation, arresting of suspects, and use of force. We also had three different sessions which involved role playing incidents that the student’s participated in and observed. The Morris County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and K-9 Unit also assisted our officers by providing a demonstration for the students and explaining what their job entails.

Once again, a huge thank you to our Police Officers who made this program possible and as successful as it was, Mayor James Barberio and our Chief of Police Paul Phillips.

Please keep an eye open for updates on when we will be accepting applications for the next class.
