Parsippany is the second safest city in America, according to the latest study done by Safehome.org.
The rankings were based on 2015 FBI data on violent and property crime reports along with the ratio of law enforcement officers to citizens and other demographic information which relate to crime, such as unemployment rate.
With a one police officer for every 463 citizens and a population of 53,790, the study found Parsippany has relatively low violent and property crimes.
“Public Safety is my top priority. I remain committed to making continued resource investments to help our department enhance crime deterrence efforts, technology and visibility,” said Mayor James Barberio. “Parsippany is so fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard working law enforcement team who is never off-duty.”
Parsippany scored a 92.24 safety rating, second to Greenwich, Connecticut.
